Setting of stories

How a story shold be began?
it is obvious that dramatical setting attracts people.

Dramatical settings mean something
that rarely happens in reality.

One good example is "arashi no yoruni"
which was one of the most famous picture books
recently written by a Japanese writer.
Now the book is not only picture book
but also made into a movie, even now
into the drama.

The theme of "arashi no yoru ni" is
How a wolf and a goat can be good friends.

Basically it is impossible to built friendship
between them.

For wloves goats are only thier foods to make them full.

Nobody thinks that a wolf and a goat can be friends
when knowing the story setting in the first page of a book.
But actually on the other hand
you must also be curious for the destination
the story would reach finally.

Then you can't help stopping the hand
turning over pages until you finish the book.

In this kind of dramatic setting,
Readers can see clearly the position from which
they start to read the book.

And what all readers have to think is
how a wolf and a goat can overcome the difficulity.
Now readers are in the situation that they know
what they have to do but at the same time
they don't know what they can do.

now, the role of auther is leading
the readers to the answer with beautiful story.

They've already been ready to fallow the author.
Therefore the story will be easily accepted to them.
It means the author have chaptured hearts of readers.

"arashi no yoruni" in which
The two in quite oppesite side are creating the story.

It is useful to describe their uniquness having
tatally different figure with each other.

Ryoji Arakawa

I was looking for something is useful to creat a picture book.
cause in fact i didn't know specific information about publishing
books!

then when i getting to know that,
i found actually the important thing is not there.
yes, it is important but not the first step.

i happen to find a phrase from
an famous picture book writer.

Here is translation of his words.

"I think my picture books are like a window or
I hope they are the exixtance like a window.

Once you open a cover, you can see a small world
from my picture book made by me.

And i wish you watched the scene
from the window named books as slow as you can.

And I would like to show you the scene moving
one after another to make you feel like being on
a locomotive which is running at speed that enable
you to pick stories around my small world.

I hope my works can be books which readers
feel to see the scene from the locomotive again
Even if they colse the book.""

Translation

The way to translate somthing should be fixed
depending on which kind of works you'll translate.

If you work on translation of essay, the tranlation you made
should be essay. not like articles or report etc.

when you translate fiction,
you should make fiction even
in the language you use for the translation.

The important thing in making fiction
that how you make a world which can keep attracting readers.

then, you should decide at first
who will be readers for the fiction.

Even you should think about the characters in the fiction.
each characters talk with other characters.
(if it's fantasy ficiton, the character can be also animals or inorganic matters, etc)

So a writer of fiction should consider both readers and characters.

and if you try to tranlate fictions,
you may think of the people who are using the language
which you will use for the translation as well.

I mean, it will be different translation depending on
which country the readers are from.

As aresult,
To translate fiction,
you should think about these 3 points.

1 Readers who will read the translation.
2 Characters which play roles in the fiction.
3 Countries in which the translated fictions are read.

Pavilion

This blog will be also a place to show my drawing or painting.........

let's begin.

what is literature?

"literature is only stains of ink on simple papers."

that was the words from a professor in university.
i was shocked.
yes,
it was totally correct.

but imagine if you can give something for someone who you don't know,
even you haven't met, only with such a simple resource.
it is magic.

and why there are best seller books in the world?
it also depends on good translations in each countries.
but still i wonder the books which is read by people through the history,
for example.

i'm curious for these facts.
